Guwahati – Kaziranga – Shillong – Cherrapunji

  This is a representative programme and can be adapted based on your institution’s requirements.


Day 1 | Arrival in Guwahati – River and Gateway to the Northeast
Night Halt: Guwahati
Arrival and transfer to hotel.
Introduction to Guwahati as the gateway to Northeast India—set along the Brahmaputra, shaped by trade, culture, and geography.
Evening experience along the riverfront—understanding the scale and character of one of India’s great rivers.


Day 2 | Guwahati to Kaziranga – Into the Floodplains
Night Halt: Kaziranga
Drive to Kaziranga through Assam’s plains, tea gardens, and rural landscapes.
Introduction to floodplains, river systems, and how seasonal cycles shape life and land use.
Arrival and orientation to Kaziranga’s ecosystem and conservation significance.


Day 3 | Kaziranga – Grasslands, Wildlife, and Conservation
Night Halt: Kaziranga
Early morning safari in the park—grasslands and wetlands that support the Indian one-horned rhinoceros, elephants, and diverse birdlife.
Understanding conservation practices, habitat management, and human–wildlife interfaces.
Afternoon visit to nearby villages or interpretation spaces to connect ecology with local livelihoods.


Day 4 | Kaziranga to Shillong – Into the Hills
Night Halt: Shillong
Drive towards Shillong with a gradual transition from plains to hills.
En route halt at Umiam Lake—understanding water systems, landscape, and regional importance.
Arrival in Shillong and orientation to the hill town—its layout, culture, and colonial influences.


Day 5 | Shillong – Culture, Community, and Landscape
Night Halt: Shillong
Exploration of Shillong town—public spaces, local markets, and cultural rhythms.
Visit to a museum or cultural centre—insight into Khasi society, traditions, and social structures.
Short nature walks or viewpoints around the city—understanding the hill ecosystem.


Day 6 | Shillong to Cherrapunji – Rain, Rock, and Living Landscapes
Night Halt: Shillong
Drive to Cherrapunji—one of the wettest regions on earth.
Visit to key sites such as Nohkalikai Falls and surrounding viewpoints—understanding rainfall patterns, geology, and erosion.
Exploration of limestone caves or living root bridges (based on group suitability)—interaction between nature and indigenous knowledge systems.
Return to Shillong by evening.


Day 7 | Shillong to Guwahati – Departure
Transfer to Guwahati for onward journey.



Programme Essentials and Flexibility


Optional Extensions
Programmes can be further enriched with additional modules, depending on time and objectives. These may include extended wildlife safaris in Kaziranga, tea garden visits and interactions in Assam, deeper engagement with Khasi villages and community systems, longer treks to living root bridges, or specialised sessions on ecology, rainfall systems, and conservation practices.


Accommodation
Student accommodation is typically arranged on a triple occupancy basis. Accompanying teachers are provided twin-sharing rooms.


Faculty Support
A limited number of accompanying teachers are hosted on a complimentary basis, depending on overall group size.


Meals
Balanced, hygienic meal plans are arranged with a mix of regional and familiar cuisines suitable for student groups. Detailed menus are shared during the planning stage.


Transport
Travel is arranged using experienced, vetted transport providers suited for student groups.


Safety & Supervision
All programmes are guided and supervised with appropriate safety considerations in place for each location.


Important Information
Detailed inclusions, exclusions, operational guidelines, packing advisory, and other relevant information are shared as part of the formal proposal and pre-departure process.
