Evening orientation with a short neighbourhood walk to ease into the programme and introduce how the city will be observed and interpreted.
Day 2 | Kolkata – Power, Ideas, and Enterprise
Night Halt: Kolkata
Dalhousie precinct—reading the city as the former imperial capital through its colonial institutions: Writers’, GPO, and trading houses.
Jorasanko Thakurbari and College Street—linking the Bengal Renaissance, literature, academic and intellectual life.
Day 3 | Kolkata – Freedom & Cityscape
Night Halt: Kolkata
Morning: Netaji Bhavan and/or Alipore Museum—focused understanding of the freedom movement.
Kumartuli—one of the world’s largest living craft hubs, where artisans build clay idols in open studios, with materials transported by river and clay sourced from it, forming a cycle that ultimately returns to the river.
Drive past Eden Gardens (often called the Mecca of cricket), the iconic Howrah Bridge, and key city stretches to experience Kolkata’s scale and movement.
Late afternoon: Prinsep Ghat and riverfront walk.
Day 4 | Kolkata to Shantiniketan
Night Halt: Shantiniketan
Transfer to Shantiniketan.
Ashram and museum visits—Tagore’s philosophy of open learning, art, and environment.
Day 5 | Shantiniketan – Craft, Culture, and Community
Night Halt: Shantiniketan
Khoai and Sonajhuri Haat—time to observe, engage, and shop within a vibrant local setting.
Visit to a local craft cluster (batik/dokra) with demonstration.
Santhal dance experience at Sonajhuri Haat.
Evening Baul session—lyrics, instruments, and context.
Day 6 | Shantiniketan – Rural Immersion
Night Halt: Shantiniketan
Visit to a nearby tribal village—housing, livelihoods, and seasonal rhythms.
Interaction with students through a local NGO/school.
Return with a short reflection circle.
Day 7 | Kolkata – Workshops and City Linkages
Night Halt: Kolkata
Morning: a curated workshop session, with options including Arts Acre, Nehru Children’s Museum, Jogesh Mime Academy, a cricket coaching centre, a football club at the Maidan, or the Sea Explorers Institute.
Afternoon: a linked city visit such as Vivekananda House, Belur Math, Netaji Bhavan, or Alipore Museum.
Day 8 | Kolkata to Sundarbans – Enter the Delta
Night Halt: Sundarbans
Transit to Gadkhali and board boats.
En route nature interpretation—tides, salinity gradients, mangrove species, and human adaptation.
Gosaba walk, Hamilton Bungalow, village interaction.
Evening folk performance.
Day 9 | Sundarbans – Creeks & Watchtowers
Night Halt: Kolkata
Early start for quieter waters.
Boat through narrow creeks (Dobanki/Pirkhali), canopy walk, and watchtowers.
Observe birdlife, tidal patterns, and mangrove ecology.
Return to Kolkata by evening.
Day 10 | Departure / Open Window
Morning or previous evening kept free for shopping (New Market / Gariahat), depending on exit times.
Check-out and onward journey.

Accommodation
Student accommodation is typically arranged on a triple occupancy basis. Accompanying teachers are provided twin-sharing rooms.
Faculty Support
A limited number of accompanying teachers are hosted on a complimentary basis, depending on overall group size.
Meals
Balanced, hygienic meal plans are arranged with a mix of regional and familiar cuisines suitable for student groups. Detailed menus are shared during the planning stage.
Transport
Travel is arranged using experienced, vetted transport providers suited for student groups.
Safety & Supervision
All programmes are guided and supervised with appropriate safety considerations in place for each location.
